Duluth Curling Club members Scott Anderson, Jeff Anderson and Shawn Corbin will be featured on Fox 21 News on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 9:00pm. Fox 21 Sports Anchor, Eric Gullickson recently filmed a story of these wheelchair curlers, who compete in the Sunday 6pm Open League, and the unique delivery they have chosen. Tune in and watch the athletic ability of these special members.
Sophie’s Junior team won the 2011 Junior Nationals in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is Sophie’s third Junior National Title. Sophie’s team now advances to the 2011 World Junior Championships March 5‐13 in Perth, Scotland. Congratulations Sophie!
Duluth teams fared well in the U.S. Senior Nationals in Boston. DCC had two of three teams in the playoffs. Ross Litman, Sammy Perella, Dave Johnson, and Dean Birman finished in third place. Phil DeVore, Seppo Sormunen, Doug Cameron, and Larry Sharp lost to the Geoff Goodland rink in the final.
Congratulations to Jack Carr (Thunder Bay), Rob Carr, Glenn Novak, and Ron Gervais for a big ‘A’ event win in the Port Arthur Curling Club’s Superbowl Spiel.
Due to the Super Bowl on Sunday February 6, 2011 all scheduled league games are cancelled. The lounge will be closed. There will be ice available after noon, when the last draws of the UMD intramural bonspiel are in progress.

The next UMD hockey series is February 4-5th. The Dogs are playing MInnesota so we expect a large crowd. Working the door for Hockey nights is a lot of fun! The revenue generated is a great help to the club;s bottom line. Contact Doug Britton or Nancy Odden if you can help that weekend.
Congratulations to three Duluth teams which won all three events at the Two Harbors Men’s International Spiel on January 23rd. Winning the A event were Bob Magie, Tom Brozic, Jess Brozic, and Mike Piper. The B event was won by Phil Devore, Lee Leksell, Doug Cameron, and Terry Christensen. The C event was won by Ross Litman, Sammy Perella, Dave Johnson, and Mike Kniffon.
Duluth Curling Club’s Joe Polo and the Pete Fenson rink helped win the Continental Cup for North America against the World on Sunday January 16th. This competition is similar to golf’s Ryder Cup. Joe says it was by far the most fun he has had in curling. Congratulations!
